Please read the whole information about the RTM version of 2008 including Hyper-V in the TechNet Magazine.

Offcourse this information is bias, but it does give the impression performance should be better with Hyper-V then with ESX, but features like VMotion aren't available yet.
The other disadvantage of Hyper-V is that the hardware is configured in the Virtual Machines again. This does seem to increase performance, but you lose the advantage of being able to move your VM between Physical machines with different hardware, making disaster recovery on new hardware time consuming.

MS Hyper-V Guide

Postby forumadmin » Sun Jul 20, 2008 8:21 pm

Hi,

I highly recommend you read the Hyper-V guide at http://www.virtualizationteam.com

They had scripted a step by step guide for installing, configuring, & using MS Hyper-V. I have followed it in our installation for our testing enviornment and the installation was really easy. The MS Hyper-V 5 parts series are linked to below. Check it out and hope that will get you there easily just as I were able to do it first time.
